Vapour barrier faults on a slab near Rockbank

Not extended, and punctures left open.

Owner Inspections · Rockbank 3335 · 2026-04-07

In short: The barrier only works as a continuous layer, and both faults end at the pour.

What it does

Stops ground moisture rising through the slab and protects the reinforcement.

Not extended

We recorded a barrier that did not run beneath the whole slab, leaving part of it unprotected.

Punctures unsealed

Punctured areas have to be sealed with polyethylene tape. Left open they are a direct path.

Why both matter equally

Either one breaks the continuity the barrier depends on.

When to look

The day before the pour, the only time any of it is visible.
